Friends of Scouting Campaign in Full Swing
Written by Mike Ussery
Thursday, 11 March 2010

fosOur Bee Cave District Goal is to raise $170,000 in 2010 for the Friends of Scouting campaign. Each unit has a Unit Champion who is in charge of shepherding that unit to their individual FOS goal. Our hopes are to have all goals achieved prior to May 1. Active scout families, extended families, scouting alumni and others who recognize the tremendous value of scouting can contribute or pledge (for later payment) in multiple ways below. We need your help to fund almost 30% of the Capital Area Council's budget through Friends of Scouting. Thanks and please contribute today.

** Make an online contribution HERE, be sure to make note of your unit

** Download a Friends of Scouting Brochure and pledge card HERE

** Hand your contribution check or pledge card to your Unit FOS Champion

cs-bridgePsst! Your son hasn't told you this yet, but he really wants to go to Cub Scout Day Camp this summer. He's excited about scouting, and knows that attending Day Camp will give him a chance to do all the things he loves about Cub Scouts, all day long for a week! You'll be excited about the really affordable registration fee of only $100. If you register early, before May 1, you can save $25 of that! Of course, if you wait until May 1, camp may be full...

March Roundtable
Written by Andy Graham
Monday, 08 March 2010

You will not want to miss our next Roundtable on March 11!

We will begin at 7pm with a short combined session of brief general announcements and 60 second summaries.  Special topics will include:

Training classes scheduled during March and April.

Cub Day Camp scheduled in June.

Camporee highlights, including guidelines for Webelos attendance at Camporee, including: Who registers Webelos and parents? What is there for Webelos to do? Do Webelos camp overnight?

The Cub Scout breakout session will be a Soap Box Derby car seminar, including a full-size example Soap Box Derby car, and will show your pack how to conduct or participate in your own Derby, and will include end-to-end best practices from starting line to winner’s circle.

The Boy Scout breakout session will be the final Camporee coordination meeting.  Troop pre-registrations are due by March 11 (with payment) and may be turned in at the Roundtable.  We will also answer any questions and provide maps for patrol events and troop campsites.
