Wood Badge is a
comprehensive training course started by Robert Baden-Powell to help leaders
hone their skills, extend their understanding of the youth they lead and the
adults with whom they work, and to reach new levels of personal growth and
learning as Scouters. Wood Badge provides advanced training in leadership and

Our 2012 Roundtable Chair will be John Urban, with Kelli Heyns taking over as Cub Scout Roundtable Chair. We will again hold our monthly roundtable, One Great Night of Scouting, on the second Thursday or each month beginning, February 9. There is no better place for great information sharing, instruction and scouting fellowship. Whether you are a new leader still wet behind the ears or a tenured scouter, you will benefit from attendance, so don't miss it.

Scouting for Food, also known as the "Souper Bowl of Caring", will take place in January (around Super Bowl time). This is a national program to collect food for local area food banks and we hope each unit will participate in some way. More details can be found on the council website HERE. We will have door hangers available at Roundtable on December 8 and again at the District Banquet on January, 12, 2012 (We recommend that you collect the flyers on December 8, if at all possible, to ensure that you have time to pass them out at your unit meetings in December and January.)
IMPORTANT: We also need to know how your unit plans to participate; Method A) Drop off 5 cans per Scout at the Report to State (no reporting of total collection required) or Method B) Will hang flyers in neighborhoods, collect food and drop off at local food pantry, H-E-B, etc.
Please send e-mail to David Jessich at

, Activities Chairman, with your unit's plan (Method A or Method B). If you decide to do local collection and drop off, we will need to know how many Scouts participated and how many pounds of food was collected (count 1 can = 1 pound). This should be reported by unit on the council website before February 4, 2012.
